ABSTRACT

Any such ships more than 23 years of age will not be accepted for registration as Cyprus ships, except in exceptional circumstances, namely:

(i) where the ship will serve the Cyprus trade and will call at Cyprus ports at least twice per month or at least 24 times in any one year; and

(ii) where the ship has not been detained by port State control more than once in the preceding 12 months on grounds of safety or pollution prevention; and

(iii) the ship has undergone an entry inspection which has been completed with satisfactory results; and

(iv) the ship is operated by a Cyprus or other EU ship management company having its place of business in Cyprus staffed by a sufficient number of qualified personnel and certificated for compliance with the ISM Code.
