ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1, we discussed the different categories of school functions and school effectiveness. Without a theoretical model as a guide to further interpret school effectiveness and select criteria to assess it, it is still very difficult, if not impossible, to determine whether one school is effective or not. The school is a kind of organization, and therefore school effectiveness may be discussed in the light of organizational literature. In this chapter, I will discuss the models that can be used to explain and assess school effectiveness from an organizational perspective.
