ABSTRACT

Once you have assessed a resident’s behavioral or emotional problem(s), you are finally ready to design an intervention. As we discussed in the last chapter, your behavioral analysis of the activators and consequences may lead you to effective interventions. In some cases, however, you may want additional ideas, some of which are provided in this chapter. In addition, there are times when intervention must begin immediately, either because of the behavior’s severity or because staff doubt that using the tracking grid would provide insight. In these cases, the interventions below provide a starting point.
