ABSTRACT
Few illnesses present greater problems of placement in the spectrum of care than stroke. Stroke patients may be misplaced in the acute care medical facility, the nursing home, the rehabilitation unit, psychiatric facility, the day hospital, or even in their own homes. This tendency to misplacement arises partially from the variety of disabilities that stroke may cause, but most especially from the presence of dementia and behavioral disturbance.
