ABSTRACT
The present chapter and the next one are devoted to issues of validity in the broad context of measurement theory and practice. Following a brief overview of the meaning and definition of validity, the remainder of the chapter is addressed to criterion-related validation. The meaning of criterion and different types of criteria are discussed first. This is followed by a presentation of prediction, with special emphasis on predictive efficiency, differential prediction, and selection bias.
