ABSTRACT
The central nervous system depressants form a large category of drugs that are often divided into overlapping groups: sedatives, hypnotics, sedative-hypnotics, minor and major tranquilizers, and so on. As we have found with narcotic/analgesics, the use of at least one CNS depressant goes far back into prehistory. For the CNS depressant group, that representative drug is alcohol.
