ABSTRACT
The U.S. federal government at many junctures profoundly and positively influenced Lloyd Viel Berkner’s life and career. Even before his birth on February 1, 1905, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, federal policies, legislation, and institutions worked in ways that eventually would help direct his goals and accomplishments.
