ABSTRACT
By choosing to write about the four psychologies of psychoanalysis (drive theory, ego psychology, object relations, and psychology of the self) in an integrated way, Pine (1990) was attempting to evolve a unifying perspective that represented the diverse phenomena that clinicians encounter in their work. Almost all clinical phenomena can be understood from multiple perspectives; and at different times, one perspective may have greater narrative truth than others.
