ABSTRACT
In September 1977 briefly, and in October–November 1977 at length, there was unofficial action in many CEGB power stations in the form of a ban on overtime and a work-to-rule. This action proved awkward to handle for the CEGB, serious in its consequences for consumers and when it was over of distressing significance for many power station staff. It also had its influence on future industrial relations.
