ABSTRACT

The variety of light bulbs out there is nearly endless. They operate at different voltages and wattages. They come in many different sizes and shapes with different base styles. The size of the housing or fixture can limit the size and/or shapes of the bulb choose. With light sources, white is never really white: some whites are "warm," or appear to have a yellow or amber tint, while other lights are "cool," and have a slightly blue tint. Color temperature is a comparative measurement using degrees Kelvin to indicate how warm or cool a light source is: 2,000K to 3,000K is warm white, 3,100K to 4,500K is cool white or bright white, and above 4,500K is daylight. A light-emitting diode (LED) is a small source of light. Their low cost, bright steady light, small power requirement, and lack of heat make them ideal for many prop applications.
