ABSTRACT
Throughout this book the aim has been to examine changes in the ‘market position’ of the coal-mining industry, the consequences of these changes and the reaction of various parties to them. In this concluding chapter an attempt will be made to draw together some of the threads of earlier discussions, and to examine more centrally the reactions of governments, employers and miners (plus their unions).
