ABSTRACT
Besides the legendary corpus, which includes Ratannath in the pantheon of the Nāth figures and testifies to his encompassing influence, we shall now consider another variant of the foundation legend which makes a clear link between Ratannāth, the Dang kingdom and the community of Yogī officiants, thus legitimizing the monastery’s local enrootedness and socioeconomic status.
