ABSTRACT

This chapter provides guidance on the implementation of H&OP more as a way of thinking than as a program. The chapter starts with a review of the seven fundamental principles of H&OP, followed with a short description of the need to build a sound business case that carefully analyzes the benefits, costs, and risks of implementing and not implementing H&OP. The remainder of the chapter provides general guidelines for deploying H&OP’s six building block functions using a coach’s playbook concept. A suggested list and sequence of activities are described, followed by a description of several important success factors.
