ABSTRACT

Xi's pursuit of prosperity and great national power has distanced Chinese White Communism from its idealist egalitarian and social justice roots. There is little of Marx's ideology left to prevent Beijing from abandoning communism entirely and switching sides. The leadership only has to set its mind on relinquishing the Communist Party's monopoly on political power, disassociate itself explicitly from the working class and peasantry, repudiate economic and social equality, decriminalize freehold private property and base rewards on the value of services rendered. It can do these things candidly, or double-talk.
