Last year, the Ford Industries paid directly, in wages, about two hundred and fifty million dollars; purchases were probably responsible for the payment of about five hundred million dollars more in wages; service stations and dealers paid about two hundred and fifty million dollars in wages. So the com pany last year generated about one thousand million dollars in wage money.
