ABSTRACT

The training system is a complex and busy place. Productive growth requires an appreciation of diversity, and using it to inform what takes place at what time in the experience. This chapter covers an overview of supervisory roles; distinctions among education, training, and experience; and participant diversity. We also discuss developmental aspects of supervision; general education and training requirements; training issues; and the fundamental processes of supervision. We end with a minimalist way for trainees to begin a case as a grounding for supervision. See Chapter 4 for more discussion.
