ABSTRACT

A 22-year-old man has been admitted to hospital for the second time, after airport staff raised concerns about him lying on the seats and ‘acting funny’ looking suspicious and asking about ‘the radio waves’. On admission, he told you that the planes were sending out radio waves to him and he could control their flight path with these waves. Over the last 2 months it seems likely from your assessments that he has a diagnosis of schizophrenia as all other possibilities are ruled out. His mother already has an inkling that this might be his diagnosis, and she wants to know more about it.
