ABSTRACT

Each employee must identify the books, manuals, coworkers, vendors, that can be used if he runs into trouble. Ideally, the employee should identify separate “Parachute Packers” for each reason viewed as a possible impediment to success. However, the first two or three times coaching process is used, it’s best to take the extra time to identify as many “Parachute Packers” as possible. This will enable the employee to concentrate on finding his own solutions and resources for potential problems before they become problems. Identifying potential resources means looking for both the people and things needed to ensure success, a result, and not another excuse. Identifying potential resources is more than just people that can help. It also includes identifying needed tools, equipment and technical resources required to ensure success. Effective coaching is only part of the process. Once the assignment is completed, the coaches must follow-up and follow through to ensure continuous success over a period of time.
