ABSTRACT
My purpose is to take one detail of the antisocial clinical picture and to discuss this detail which derives importance from the fact that it recurs regularly in case histories. In order to illustrate my meaning I shall describe' a psychotherapeutic interview. This interview with a girl of eight years led to a cessation of stealing and presumably therefore it was significant . Towards the end of the interview there appears the detail that I make the subject of this study. The reader will need to keep this point in mind while digesting the whole of a long interview in which other things are being discussed.
