ABSTRACT

For those of us who regularly practise mindfulness the benefits are obvious. We can easily recognise the impact on our everyday lives. There is strong evidence to support using mindfulness to improve mental health, as we saw in the previous chapter. Mindfulness has been portrayed very positively in the media so some clients may have read articles in a Sunday supplement, seen an item on television or know someone who has recommended this practice. Some may have attended meditation or yoga classes in the past. These clients are usually very keen to learn more about mindfulness and to begin practising the skills. Orientation in such cases might be a simple matter of information giving.
