BuREAUCRATICandpatriarchalstructuresareantagonisticinmanyways, yettheyhaveincommonamostimportantpeculiarity:permanence.In thisrespecttheyarebothinstitutionsofdailyroutine.Patriarchalpower especiallyisrootedintheprovisioningofrecurrentandnormalneedsof theworkadaylife.Patriarchalauthoritythushasitsoriginallocusinthe economy,thatis,inthosebranchesoftheeconomy.thatcanbesatisfied bymeansofnormalroutine.Thepatriarchisthe'naturalleader'ofthe dailyroutine.f\ndinthisrespect,thebureaucraticstructureisonlythe counter-imageofpatriarchalismtransposedintorationality.Asapermanentstructurewithasystemofrationalrules,bureaucracyisfashioned tomeetcalculableandrecurrentneedsbymeansofanormalroutine. ,Theprovisioningofalldemandsthatgobeyondthoseofeveryday
