ABSTRACT
ANCOVA first appeared in the literature during the 1950s, and has since become a widely used method in psychological research. It consists of an ordinary ANOVA design in which one of the variables is adjusted according to its relationship with an extraneous variable. The extraneous variable is referred to as a covariate. 1
