ABSTRACT
In this chapter the sensors available for remote sensing studies will be examined in more detail in order to explain the advantages and disadvantages attached to each sensing system. As Figure 4.1 indicates, the most convenient subdivision for present purposes is between imagers (basically providing information in the horizontal plane) and sounders (which vertically profile their target media, most commonly air or water).
