ABSTRACT
Remote sensing techniques can be applied to data from different types of observation platform. Each platform, mobile or stationary, has its own characteristics. Generally speaking, three types are of interest for remote sensing: ground, airborne and spaceborne observation platforms. A classification of remote sensing platforms based on these three categories is given in Fig. 5.1.
