ABSTRACT

This Chapter provides some advice on how a competence framework might be used in schools. It also suggests ways in which you might use competences to assist management development. You have already learned that competences can bring 'empowerment' to teachers. Involvement with a competence framework is of little benefit if you do not intend to develop your own effectiveness and that of your school. To merely tick boxes on schedules in order to gain a qualification without achieving any real development is best described by a word accidentally thrown up by my word processor - conpretence!
