ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a synthesis of the recommendations presented in foregoing chapters for the future development of ITSs. The recommendations are organized under two broad categories, research and applications. The distinction made between research and applications is that reserach is concerned with the additional knowledge and understanding necessary to build ITSs; applications are concerned with building, with the available knowledge, ITSs that can meet the instructional requirements of individuals, and organizations.
