The model predicts that if there is no Garner interference going from o I to O2 (or vice versa), then there can be no Stroop interference or facilitation in that same direction. The reason is simply that the absence of Garner interference implies the absence of any crosstalk (as well as the absence of emergent features), and this same crosstalk is a prerequisite for any Stroop effects. The data from the same 63 experiments shown earlier in Fig. 3.13 corroborate this prediction.
