ABSTRACT

For- and not-for-profit organizations are critical players in protecting seniors before, during, and after hazard events. Many are hands-on-the ground in a single neighborhood, and a few participate at every geographical level from international to neighborhood. This chapter focuses and illustrates three key risk management functions: (1) locating nursing homes, assisted living, and other facilities that shelter and care for seniors; (2) caring for seniors who live in these facilities; and (3) organizing to evacuate and shelter.
