ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 summarized the geographical distribution and types of presidential disaster declarations. Texas, California, New York, and Florida each had over 60 presidential disaster declarations during the period 1953 through 2011, in other words, an average of more than 1 per year. Given their large size and large populations (four most populous states), we would assume the most disasters in these four states.
