ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we revise matrices and calculus and use them to solve a GLM. We also cover basic properties of discrete and continuous random variables; we define the mean and variance, state some properties of means (expected values) and the variance laws, show that the sample mean and SD are good estimator of the population mean and SD, derive the distribution of sample means (the sampling distribution of the mean), and define the harmonic mean.
