ABSTRACT
We have seen in the previous chapter that language can direct our attention to particular aspects of a situation and make us construe that situation in different ways – for instance, as an event or a state. In this chapter we extend and deepen our understanding of how language can function as an attention-directing device and shape our perception or construal of a situation.
