      ABSTRACT

Behavioral changes over time represent instances of functional plasticity. After an acquired brain insult, such as a closed head injury, cognitive capacities often change with time since injury. This change is an instance of functional plasticity. What occurs throughout the interval between injury and cognitive evaluation is a mix of two factors, one concerned with recovery and the other concerned with development.
