ABSTRACT
If your students store coats and books in lockers, allow time on the first day to practice opening and closing their lockers. Working a combination lock the first few times and getting to class on time with the proper materials are challenges that make students anxious. A little extra time at the beginning of the year to get used to a new procedure results in smoother transitions in the long run. Also see Transitions.
