ABSTRACT

Just as modeling appropriate behaviors is important, so is modeling humility. After all, no one is perfect. Perhaps you become impatient with a student or respond with more sarcasm than humor. Show students you accept responsibility for your actions. When you blow it—and you will—model humility and express regret for your behavior. Apologizing reminds your students that you are human. It also demonstrates accountability and respects those involved. Modeling humility speaks volumes to your students.
