Intrinsic motivation is the ideal way to learn or change behaviors, but sometimes it is not enough. Then what? You may have to do a little detective work. Observe and talk with the unmotivated student to discover his or her interests outside of school. Learn about special hobbies, favorite sports, television shows, and games that he or she enjoys.
