ABSTRACT

When students come into your classroom later in the year, they do not always arrive at the beginning of the day, because registration usually takes a significant amount of time to complete. You may not know in advance about a new student, so try to have books and first-day items ready in case of a new arrival. When you do know ahead of time, have a desk and set of textbooks ready. You also might assign both a male and female student (for restroom reasons) as Class Ambassadors, who meet the new student when he or she arrives. The role of class ambassador not only is welcoming to the new class resident, but also gives the ambassador experience in hospitality etiquette.
