ABSTRACT

The average attention span of an elementary student varies, but most therapists agree that the best way to calculate attention span is to take the child’s age and convert that into minutes (e.g., 7 years old = 7 minutes). If you notice that your class is losing focus or getting restless, then your lesson may be too long for their attention level. Plan the instructional part of your lessons to fit in the expected attention range for the age of your students and preempt possible misbehaviors.
