ABSTRACT

What should you communicate to your administrator, and when do you have the discussion? How do you know when to send a child to the principal? Your first and foremost guide is your school’s policy, so refer to and rely on it. When a major policy is violated, notify the principal or other appropriate administrator. Severe problems, such as violent behavior, threats, serious bus issues, and weapon-related concerns, always must be reported immediately. For a difficult issue not outlined in the school handbook, consult your mentor or another trusted colleague. Also see Office Referrals.
