ABSTRACT

If some students are easily distracted, often off-task, or even fall asleep in class, they may not be getting enough ZZZs. The average elementary child requires approximately 10 hours of sleep per night, yet many children do not get this needed rest (Kovarik, 2007). Without adequate sleep, children get tired at school, have difficulty focusing on the lesson, are irritable and easily frustrated, and have trouble controlling their emotions and impulses (Dahl, 1996).
