ABSTRACT

Students often become anxious about tests, especially standardized tests that extend over several days. Some test anxiety comes from not knowing what to expect. To ease students’ fear of the unknown, familiarize them with the format of the test ahead of time using samples from the testing companies, so they can concentrate on content during the actual testing. Help students cope with the pressure of being timed by giving practice timed tests and encouraging a sense of rising to a challenge rather than fearing the “ticking clock.”
