When students continually exhibit unacceptable behaviors, there is an underlying reason. Whether an irritating habit, aggressive behavior, or lying, the behavior serves the student in some way. As mentioned previously, that behavior is driven by a need for attention, power, revenge, or inadequacy (Dreikurs et al., 2004).
