ABSTRACT

It is frustrating when you need parents’ help in meeting their child’s needs and they are unresponsive. However, you must be extra diligent in keeping uninvolved parents informed on their child’s progress and behavior. Though you may question why you should try so much when the parents don’t, continue your efforts anyway. What you do is for the student. Call, send notes or emails, and set up mini-conferences to discuss your concerns. You never know when your perseverance will pay off. More important, you may be the only one standing in that child’s corner.
