ABSTRACT

Ungraded student work easily can pile up to the size of small mountains. Before paperwork gets to that point, tackle it. Start with papers that can be graded the quickest—assignments with clear, specific answers, such as math papers. Grade that work, and record it in the grade book. Next, grade those papers requiring more time, such as essays or reports. To ease the grading process for those assignments, set up and follow a clear rubric for required elements. For example, if the response to an essay question must include three major points, place a check mark in the outer column each time you read a point. By the end of the paper, you will be able to easily identify whether the student reached the desired goal.
