ABSTRACT

Choices stimulate creativity and generate opportunities. At any grade level, allowing student choice acknowledges various learning styles and intelligences within the classroom and demonstrates respect for the individual. Giving assignment choices or options in how a project is completed is motivating for students, because they can follow their natural abilities or desires to accomplish an assignment. Offering several choices for an assignment may take a little creative planning and assessment, but the time and effort result in motivated students excited about the task. And, remember, motivated students yield a well-managed classroom.
