ABSTRACT

For children’s safety and your liability, you need to know about custody concerns surrounding your students, whether stemming from a divorce or another situation. Be aware of the people who can legally have access to your students. Your school probably requires parents to file a copy in the school office of any custody agreements concerning their child. A custody agreement gives the legal arrangements for the child, saying who has custody and when. It also tells who can access school information. It is important for you to be aware of this information and any rulings about sharing academic information with noncustodial parents.
