ABSTRACT

Sarah is standing behind a tree and staring at the building. It has taken all of her courage to just get this far. Still, she can not convince herself to walk inside. Several times she has turned her back and almost walked away. But something keeps her from running away. She watches as other students walk back and forth on the sidewalk in front of the building and she is glad that she had hidden herself at the rear of the building. "Come on," she tells herself, "you can do this." "No," she continues to suggest to herself, "you NEED to do this." Gathering every ounce of courage she can muster, Sarah moves toward the back door. She watches and waits. Finally, her chance comes. One of the health center employees opens the back door to dump trash into the dumpster. Before the door can shut, Sarah slips in unnoticed even by the employee who opened the door.
