ABSTRACT

EFFICACY AND USE Psychotic disorders are characterized by a variable array of signs and symptoms, such as delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech or behavior, excitement, or aggressiveness. Although the cause may

vary, antipsychotic medications can generally improve these symptoms. Schizophrenia is the most clear-cut indication for antipsychotic drugs, but these agents also are useful in the treatment of mania, delusional disorder, psychosis and behavioral disturbances associated with organic mental disorders or developmental disorders, psychotic depression, Huntington disease, and Tourette syndrome.
