ABSTRACT

It is clear that critical systems thinking and cultural ecofeminism are highly complementary. The two bodies of knowledge share several mutual goals. Both operate beyond a positivist framework; they challenge the ‘ontological divide’ between ‘man’ and nature, and they seek to achieve lasting social changes through the application of theory in practice. It is also apparent that critical systems thinking and cultural ecofeminism have things to offer one another. More explicit attention to the specific circumstances of where sexual oppression maybe present could enhance critical systems thinking and its various modes of practice, while theoretical and methodological pluralism presents opportunities for feminists to set aside epistemological differences within feminism itself.
