ABSTRACT
As noted in the first chapter, Hannah's adolescent diaries focus primarily on friendships at school. Therefore, the focus of this and the following chapter is on the evolution of her friendship group as represented in her adolescent diaries. The growth of this group is tracked by how Hannah describes the patterns of her friendships. In other words, it is not only the content of her entries, but the geometric patterns of pairing, breaking up, and merging again, that tells the story of her friendships.
