ABSTRACT

In this chapter we discuss the axiomatic foundations of the models commonly used in multidimensional scaling. As was pointed out at the beginning of the previous chapter, we consider the model used to analyze a particular set of data to be an integral pan of our theory of data. Thus, this is the second chapter on data theory, the first being specifically on the nature of the data. and this being on the axiomatic foundations of models used in multidimensional scaling.
